Visiting Hyde Park and Val Kill

I felt so close to the people who lived in these homes. This is a place that feels intimate, honest, unpretentious and accessible, not unlike it’s former inhabitants. To touch and feel the very cord that raised the blinds on Eleanor’s porch knowing she had touched them too, was quietly thrilling. And the dinner bell that FDR rang for cocktails or as he called it, “the children’s hour”.
